Chocolate Chip Cookies

What could be better than a warm chocolate chip cookie, fresh from the oven with a tall, cold glass of milk? A great treat for kids of all ages and of course the kid in all of us!



Chocolate Chip Cookies
Yield: 2 to 4 dozen, depending on the size

1 Cup of Shortening at room temperature
1 Cup of packed Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup of White Sugar
1 teaspoon of Vanilla
2 Large Eggs
2 Cups of All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon of Baking Soda
1 teaspoon of Salt
1 to 1 1/2 Cups of Chocolate Chips

In a Medium sized mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugars using a hand mixer at medium speed. Add eggs and vanilla and blend. Add flour and baking soda and blend. Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop by teaspoonful onto parchment lined baking sheet for smaller cookies. Leave 2 inches of space between balls of dough. Bake in preheated 375F oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire racks. This will yield approx 4 dozen cookies.

Drop by Tablespoonful for larger cookies and bake for 12 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. This will yield approx. 2 dozen cookies.
